Determining acute complicated and uncomplicated appendicitis using serum and urine biomarkers: interleukin-6 and neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin

Serum IL-6 demonstrated strong diagnostic utility (72.6% sensitivity, 86.2% specificity) and could differentiate complicated from uncomplicated appendicitis, while NGAL and urine biomarkers showed limited clinical value.
