Spleen stiffness measurement as a non-invasive test to evaluate and monitor portal hypertension in children with extrahepatic portal vein obstruction

This study validates spleen stiffness measurement by 2D shear wave elastography as a non-invasive tool to assess portal hypertension severity in children with extrahepatic portal vein obstruction. Results show strong correlation between spleen stiffness and esophageal varices grade, with values declining after surgical shunt procedures, supporting its use for monitoring treatment response.
