Successful use of an enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) pathway to improve outcomes following the Nuss procedure for pectus excavatum

This retrospective study demonstrates that implementing an ERAS protocol for Nuss procedure patients significantly reduced hospital length of stay from 3.49 to 2.90 days and decreased early postoperative pain and urinary catheter requirements. The standardized pathway included perioperative exercise, pharmacologic regimens, patient education, and early mobilization without increasing readmissions or ED visits.
