Manual detorsion in testicular torsion: 5 years of experience at a single center

Retrospective study of 122 pediatric testicular torsion cases evaluating preoperative manual detorsion over 5 years. Manual detorsion was attempted in 48% of cases with 26% success rate, allowing nonemergency orchiopexy and maximizing testis salvage. Authors propose management algorithm incorporating manual detorsion attempt prior to surgical exploration.
