Effects of high-fat diet on liver injury after small bowel resection
Topic overview
Murine study demonstrates that long-term high-fat enteral diet (35% kcal) after small bowel resection significantly increases hepatic steatosis and liver injury markers compared to standard chow, independent of parenteral nutrition. Findings suggest enteral feeding composition may be a key modifiable factor in intestinal failure-associated liver disease management for pediatric SBS patients.
