5-year mental health and eating pattern outcomes following bariatric surgery in adolescents: a prospective cohort study.

Five-year follow-up of the AMOS study found adolescents who underwent Roux-en-Y gastric bypass had improved self-esteem and reduced binge eating compared to baseline, though they required more specialized psychiatric care than matched controls receiving conventional obesity treatment. Psychiatric medication use did not differ between groups.
