Laparoscopic repair of inguinal hernia in infants: Comparison with open hernia repair

Retrospective study of 465 infants comparing laparoscopic versus open inguinal hernia repair found laparoscopic approach enabled higher rates of primary bilateral repair (75.8% vs 16.1%) and significantly reduced metachronous contralateral hernias (1.6% vs 13.6%), with shorter operative times for bilateral cases.
