Overfeeding-associated hyperglycemia and injury-response homeostasis in critically ill neonates
Topic overview
Study of critically ill premature infants demonstrates that excessive caloric delivery during high metabolic stress states (CRP ≥50mg/L) significantly increases hyperglycemia risk. Findings suggest caloric intake should be titrated to injury severity to maintain metabolic homeostasis in acutely ill neonates.
