Health literacy and health-related quality of life in patients with anorectal malformations: A comparison between a charity hospital in Honduras and a tertiary care center in the United States

Comparative study of 127 ARM patients from Honduras and the US found significant health literacy disparities (13.6% vs 80% adequate literacy among caregivers) but surprisingly similar quality of life outcomes across both populations. Findings suggest caregiver education could enhance medical mission effectiveness beyond surgical intervention.
