Endoscopic incisional therapy and other novel strategies for effective treatment of congenital esophageal stenosis

Retrospective study of 36 pediatric patients demonstrates that endoscopic incisional therapy (EIT) significantly reduces need for surgical intervention in congenital esophageal stenosis compared to traditional balloon dilation alone. Despite higher complication rates with EIT, esophageal leak incidence decreased over time with adoption of vacuum-assisted closure techniques.
