Reality check: What happens when patients with anorectal malformations grow up? A pilot study of medical care transition from the adult patient perspective

Pilot survey of 26 adult patients with anorectal malformations reveals significant gaps in transition from pediatric to adult care: 67% had no pre-transition discussion and 71% received no provider recommendations. Findings highlight the urgent need for structured transition protocols and adult provider expertise in managing complex congenital conditions.
