Laparoscopic-Assisted Versus Open Total Pancreatectomy and Islet Autotransplantation: A Case-Matched Study of Pediatric Patients

This case-matched study compares laparoscopic-assisted versus open total pancreatectomy with islet autotransplantation in 42 pediatric patients with refractory chronic pancreatitis. Results show comparable outcomes between approaches, with similar complication rates, operative metrics, and graft function, supporting minimally-invasive technique as a safe alternative based on surgeon preference.
