Establishing a regional pediatric trauma preventable/potentially preventable death rate

Retrospective analysis of 105 pediatric trauma deaths in Harris County, Texas found a 21% preventable/potentially preventable death rate, significantly lower than the 37.2% adult rate. Traumatic brain injury in children aged 0-5 years represents a key opportunity for improving acute trauma care systems.
