Pediatric ulcerative colitis: three- versus two-stage colectomy with ileal pouch-anal anastomosis

Retrospective study of 49 pediatric ulcerative colitis patients comparing two-stage versus three-stage colectomy with IPAA found similar early complication rates, though three-stage procedures had more late complications and prolonged stoma duration by 3.2 months. The shift toward two-stage procedures did not increase complication rates.
