Abdominal stab wound injury in children: Do we need different approach?

This retrospective study of 92 pediatric vs 4444 adult abdominal stab wound patients demonstrates that children have lower rates of intraabdominal injury and excellent outcomes with observation alone. The authors advocate against routine CT imaging in stable pediatric patients, recommending serial physical exams to minimize radiation exposure in this population.
