Feasibility and efficacy of home rectal irrigation in neonates and early infancy with Hirschsprung disease

This prospective study demonstrates that home rectal irrigation in neonates with Hirschsprung disease enables safe delay of definitive surgery beyond the neonatal period. The approach allows single-stage pull-through procedures with better nutritional outcomes and lower enterocolitis rates compared to traditional multi-stage colostomy approaches.
