The incidence of negative intraoperative findings after unsuccessful hydrostatic reduction of ileocolic intussusception in children: A retrospective analysis

Multicentre Dutch study of 436 children with ileocolic intussusception found that 11.6% of patients who underwent surgery after failed hydrostatic reduction had no intussusception at operation. Authors recommend laparoscopy over laparotomy to avoid unnecessary open procedures in this subset of patients.
