Perioperative neutropenia is not an independent risk factor for infectious complications of central venous line placement in children: A propensity score-matched analysis

This propensity-matched retrospective study of 1,102 central venous lines demonstrates that neutropenia at time of placement does not independently increase risk of early or late infectious complications in pediatric patients. Findings support selective CVL placement in neutropenic children when combined with standardized maintenance protocols.
