Impact of congenital heart disease on outcomes after primary repair of esophageal atresia: a retrospective observational study using a nationwide database in Japan

Retrospective study of 431 Japanese infants undergoing esophageal atresia repair found no association between congenital heart disease and postoperative complications. Prolonged anesthesia duration was the only significant predictor of anastomotic leakage, while male sex was protective against stricture formation.
