Management of fetal extraperitoneal rectal perforation: a case series and review of the literature
Topic overview
This case series reviews management of fetal extraperitoneal rectal perforation (FERP), an extremely rare neonatal condition. Analysis of 18 cases demonstrates that timely diagnosis via clinical exam and X-ray, followed by faecal diversion with colostomy and extended drainage, achieves good outcomes with colostomy closure at 3-6 months.
