An experimental study on magnetic esophageal compression anastomosis in piglets

Researchers developed a sutureless magnetic compression technique for esophageal anastomosis using custom neodymium magnets in a piglet model. All 12 animals formed patent, leak-proof anastomoses by day 8-10 that withstood supraphysiologic pressures, suggesting potential application in pediatric esophageal atresia repair.
