Investigation of the Cardiotoxic Effects of Parenteral Nutrition in Rabbits

This rabbit study demonstrates that parenteral nutrition combined with complete fasting causes cardiac damage through hyperglycemia and oxidative stress, including impaired diastolic function and cellular injury. Supplemental enteral feeding appears protective against PN-induced cardiotoxicity.
