Safe phlebotomy reduction in stable pediatric liver and spleen injuries

This prospective multi-institutional study demonstrates that stable pediatric blunt liver and spleen injuries can be safely managed using hemodynamic monitoring without routine repeat hemoglobin checks. The protocol reduced unnecessary phlebotomy in 94% of eligible patients without increased morbidity or mortality.
