Topic overview

With our interest in biliary atresia (BA) and its surgical treatment, we were delighted to read the article by de Carvalho, et al. describing their technique for hepatoportoenterostomy (HPE) [1]. The Authors provide high quality images of their exposure and dissection of the portal structures and these are excellent guides to the complex anatomy of this challenging area. After review of the manuscript, we feel that some comments regarding the article are warranted.
