This multi-center European study found that 8.7% of anorectal malformations were missed at birth, with UK centers showing significantly higher rates (17.8%) compared to EU centers (4.6%). Most missed cases were low anomalies with perineal fistulas in female infants, highlighting the need for improved newborn perineal examination protocols.
