Age-adjusted shock index: From injury to arrival

Published: Reading: 1 min

Topic overview

This study of 2,917 pediatric blunt trauma patients demonstrates that shock index pediatric age-adjusted (SIPA) calculated at the injury scene predicts worse outcomes including mortality, ICU admission, and ventilator requirements. Persistently elevated SIPA from scene to ED arrival shows greater predictive utility than single measurements alone.
