Change in gastrointestinal symptoms over the first 5 years after bariatric surgery in a multicenter cohort of adolescents

Five-year prospective study of 228 adolescents undergoing RYGB or VSG reveals increasing gastrointestinal symptoms over time, with VSG patients experiencing significantly higher rates of gastroesophageal reflux compared to RYGB. Findings highlight the importance of long-term monitoring for adverse GI effects in adolescent bariatric surgery patients.
