Human chorionic gonadotrophin hormone for treatment of congenital undescended testis: Anatomical barriers to its success

Study of 75 boys with undescended testes treated with hCG hormone showed only 7% complete descent rate, with 85% requiring surgery. Surgical exploration revealed anatomical barriers including abnormal gubernaculum attachment in 83% of cases, suggesting structural abnormalities limit hormonal therapy effectiveness in congenital cryptorchidism.
