Delayed access to care and unmet burden of pediatric surgical disease in resource-constrained African countries

Retrospective study quantifying the massive unmet surgical need for congenital anomalies in African LMICs. Analysis of 210 procedures across 12 countries reveals substantial surgical backlogs, with Nigeria showing 209,260 untreated cryptorchidism cases and Ethiopia 20,188 hypospadias cases, highlighting urgent need for expanded pediatric surgical capacity.
