Optimizing postoperative follow-up in pediatric surgery (OFIPS)

Retrospective study of 633 pediatric surgical patients found that only 16.4% of postoperative clinic visits provided clinical value, while generating significant costs to families and healthcare systems. Results suggest current follow-up protocols for common procedures may need optimization to balance clinical necessity with resource utilization.
