Incidence and prevalence of congenital anomalies in low- and middle-income countries: A systematic review

This systematic review of 41 studies across 21 low- and middle-income countries reveals significant discrepancies between LMIC-reported incidence of surgically correctable congenital anomalies and estimates derived from high-income country data. The findings highlight critical gaps in population-based surveillance and underscore the need for robust local epidemiological data to guide resource allocation for pediatric surgical care in resource-limited settings.
