Published: Reading: 1 min

Topic overview

This study evaluates distal splenorenal shunt (DSRS) as an alternative to liver transplantation for managing portal hypertension in children with cystic fibrosis and compensated cirrhosis. Between 2008-2017, five CF patients underwent DSRS while nine with decompensated disease received transplants, demonstrating DSRS as a viable bridge therapy.
