Survey of 353 pediatric surgeons reveals that while 85% regularly attend M&M conferences, only 64% believe they effectively prevent future adverse events. Effective M&M programs emphasize loop closure, multidisciplinary participation, standardized event assessment, and integration with quality improvement initiatives.
