Retroperitoneal tumors and congenital variations in vascular anatomy of retroperitoneal great vessels

Retrospective study of 66 pediatric patients with retroperitoneal tumors found 9% had congenital vascular variations, occurring exclusively with right-sided tumors and significantly associated with increased intraoperative complications. While vascular variations didn't directly impact survival, they correlated with higher relapse rates, emphasizing the importance of preoperative imaging assessment.
