Surgical interventions and anesthesia in the 1st year of life for lower urinary tract obstruction

Retrospective study of 21 infants with prenatally diagnosed lower urinary tract obstruction found that disease severity predicts anesthesia exposure in the first year of life, with Stage III patients averaging 6.7 anesthesia encounters versus 1.6 for Stage I. Higher gestational age at birth was associated with fewer postnatal procedures requiring general anesthesia.
