Day case (DC) surgery is defined as a surgical procedure that allows patients to go home the same day as their operation. Laparoscopic upper gastrointestinal surgery (LUGIS) has become the standard treatment for symptomatic gallstone disease, refractory gastroesophageal reflux disease, and achalasia cardia.
