The publication on “Pediatric Firearm Trauma on the Rise: A Retrospective Review of Over 1100 Cases in 12 Years at One Center [1]” is very interesting, and we hereby comment and on this publication. Through the analysis of data from pediatric firearm-related injury (FRI) patients who presented to a single level 1 pediatric hospital or who passed away at the scene between 2010 and 2021, the researchers want to better understand the rising prevalence of gun-related trauma among children. They discovered that there were 1126 pediatric FRI cases in the area under investigation, the most of whom were male, and the majority of the injuries were brought on by pistols.
