How Does Appendicolith Affect the Presentation of Pediatric Appendicitis? An Eight-year Retrospective Review

I report on portion of a study completed at the Kaplan Medical Center in Rehovot, Israel. I reviewed PED charts, surgical reports and pathology results for children diagnosed with appendicitis or periappendiceal abscess from June 2016 to June 2024. I defined complicated appendicitis as perforation or abscess formation on pathology or CT, or perforation or abscess on surgical report, and noted whether appendicolith was identified on surgical, ultrasound or CT reports.
