The Stockholm group reports their stimulating retrospective experience on the controversial topic of tracheoesophageal fistula (TEF), either congenital or recurrent. Surgery, generally considered the gold standard treatment, is burdened by possible severe sequelae and recurrences. Conversely endoscopic treatment, generally limited to recurrent TEFs, is scarcely reported with variable outcomes.
