Surgical repair of inguinal hernia is the most frequently performed procedure in children [1]. Despite the well-established facts regarding this congenital anomaly, certain aspects remain unresolved. The statement which is endorsed by numerous authors, “The final chapter of inguinal hernia has not been written”. This situation underlines the existence of known facts as well as issues that have not yet been clarified. While incidence of inguinal hernia in term newborns varies from 1 to 5%, this rate increase to 30% in prematures [2].
