Letter to Editor: Ultrasound imaging as the first line of investigation to diagnose intestinal malrotation in children: Safety and efficacy

We read with much interest and curiosity the article by Binu et al [1]. The authors have successfully used their standardized Ultrasound as a bedside procedure to diagnose malrotation, especially in neonates. However, we feel that Ultrasound is already the first line and often diagnostic investigation for malrotation of midgut [2]. Creating an ‘equivocal’ group eliminates the false positives and negatives but justifiably, these terms can only be used if just two groups ‘Ultrasound positive’ and ‘Ultrasound negative’ for malrotation are compared to a gold standard (Upper Gastro-Intestinal Contrast Study).
