2020 was a difficult year in so many respects. There was extraordinarily little, if anything, good about it. It was a year of suffering, death, difficult work conditions, and danger to health care workers, among many other things. We applaud you, our friends and readers, for everything you did to improve the health of those you treated under extremely challenging conditions. Some countries have seen an improvement in 2021 due to the availability of the Covid vaccines, but for many countries, optimism remains in short supply.
