We read with great interest the article by Hu et al. published in the Journal of Pediatric Surgery[1], which compared the efficacy and safety of a novel sub-vacuum dressing with MepilexXT in treating superficial second-degree burns in children. We commend the authors for addressing the urgent clinical need for pediatric-friendly burn dressings in this multicenter study. However, we believe that accurately identifying the primary source of the noninferiority of the novel subvacuum dressing is crucial for optimizing pediatric burn care in the future.
