The Turkish Association of Pediatric Surgeons announces with great sadness that Professor Akgün Hiçsönmez, one of the pioneers of Turkish Pediatric Surgery, passed away on August 14, 2019, at the age of 88. His contributions in the field of pediatric surgery over 58 years were extraordinary, and he was actively involved in the pediatric surgical community as a great teacher, mentor, and surgeon until his death.
