In brief

In brief

This editorial addresses reader concerns about a fat-anchoring orchidopexy technique publication, focusing on anatomical clarifications and questions regarding potential redundant publication. The editors sought author responses on technical details and ethical approval but note unresolved issues with duplicate publication practices.

Written by the GCMD Library team from the article.

We thank our readers Aneesh M & Raveenthiran V for their Letter to the Editor (1) raising concerns about a recent Journal of Pediatric Surgery (JPS) paper by Al-Omar K, et al (2). Their concerns centered on the anatomy of the ‘fat pad’, a recent similar publication in Pediatric Surgery International (PSI) (3), and institutional ethical approval. We sought response from Drs. Al-Omar and Spinelli, respectively, and while clarifications of the technique and institutional practice were provided, we did not get a satisfactory response on the issue of redundant publication.
