Commentary - Social Determinants of Health Influence on Survival in Wilms Tumor, Neuroblastoma, and Hepatoblastoma

Abstract

The study by Nofi et al. provides an examination of how social determinants of health (SDOH), including socioeconomic status (SES) and race, influence survival outcomes in children with Wilms tumor (WT), neuroblastoma (NB), and hepatoblastoma (HB). By analyzing a large cohort from the National Cancer Database (NCDB), the authors demonstrate the significant role of SES in survival disparities, particularly for WT and NB, while providing insights into the relationship between race, access to care, outcomes in pediatric oncology, and their impact on SDOH.
