Anorectal Botulinum Toxin Injection in Functional Constipation – The Jury is Still Out
Abstract
I read the study by Keshtagar et al., on long-term outcomes of anal sphincter botulinum toxin (BT) injection in children with functional constipation (FC) [1] The authors performed the procedure in 196 patients and reported a long-term 79 % improvement in constipation symptoms. So, is BT the panacea for FC?
