Outcomes of surgery for necrotizing enterocolitis and spontaneous intestinal perforation in Finland during 1986–2014

Retrospective 29-year study (1986-2014) of 225 preterm infants who underwent surgery for NEC or SIP at two Finnish NICUs. Study compared three-month survival rates between earlier (1986-2000) and later (2001-2014) periods, examining mortality predictors and intestinal loss patterns in these critical neonatal surgical emergencies.
