Letter to the Editor Regarding a Case of Paediatric Tension Gastrothorax Stabilised With Thoracic Needle Decompression
Abstract
We read with interest the excellent paper on a dreaded complication of Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia: Tension gastrothorax in children: Introducing a management algorithm’ by Jessica Ng et al., published in the 2013 July edition of JPS (PMID:23895982). We recently encountered a case of a 3-year-old girl who presented to her local hospital with chest pain, respiratory distress, and vomiting, with her chest x-ray being diagnostic for tension gastrothorax. Following an acute deterioration, she was intubated and transferred to our centre.
