Comparing Healthcare Needs in Extremely Low Birth Weight Infants With NEC and Spontaneous Intestinal Perforation

This study compares healthcare needs between ELBW infants with necrotizing enterocolitis versus spontaneous intestinal perforation. While SIP shows lower mortality, both conditions present similar short-term morbidity including prolonged hospitalization and growth challenges, with long-term neurodevelopmental impacts requiring further investigation.
